Question from Gabriel Scully - Hey I am going to purchase the Nike GK VG3 RVS gloves but im not sure which size to get out of size 10 or size 11. I am unable to purchase both at the same time as I have insufficient funds. At the moment I have the PumaPowercat 2.10 size 11 and they are extremely tight. I was wondering which size you would recommend for the VG3 RVS
Answer from Martin@great-save.com - Hi Gabriel, The Nike VG3 has come up big for size since the new backhand design was launched 2 years ago, the VG3 RVS is no different it comes up big for size, Puma are generous for size and have always found the 2.10 Powercat to big a larger fitting glove to say a Nike Tempo Premier SGT or say a Nike Gunn Cut however with this Nike glove i would go with the same size as your Puma’s as the sizing between the two gloves will almost be the same.
Question from Jaime - I was also wondering if you are yet able to personalise onto the Belt lock wrist wrap on the Nike gloves?
Answer from Luke@great-save.com – Hi Jamie i am head of the greatsaves Personalisation department and at the moment we are unable to do so on to the belt lock strapping, we remove the strap and replace with a latex one just like Man Utd’s De Gea.
Question from Jackie Fok (facebook comment) - Which glove has the best grip? I know it isn’t easy to answer but at least just give me an idea thx
Answer from martin@great-save.com – This is a very hard question to answer, some brands have exclusive latex’s for example Uhlsport most of their top latex’s are now Exclusive to them as a brand, once they feel they have an something special latex wise which is the best around they work with the factory to do an exclusive deal where no other brand can use that latex, but there are also other brands where many use the same supersoft latex’s from the same factories.
Adidas and Nike both have top foams the Allround from Adidas has seen some great reviews and Nike Contact foam is popular with many all the major brands have a top latex it’s find what works best for you, as with football it’s all about options everyone has a different view or thoughts.
Question from Jackie Fok (facebook comment) - What is better for grip SELSPORT EXTREME ROLL FINGER WRAP or Precision SMU negative Protect
Answer from martin@great-save.com - Precision offer a good latex on the Westwood SMU and the latex used is the same as used by Westwood himself. Selsport have many latexs and they use there best on the Extreme the 4mm Contact foam was new for this season, we are yet to have loads of feedback on this latex so it’s hard to answer how well it performs.
Question from Mnss Stv (facebook comment) Hello Martin! any adidas gloves fan that thinl ultimate FS black latex has better grip than allround FS….yet i have both….and i was convinced that the white latex is way better but i feel that the black ones are better…..am i over damping my gloves before the game???…how wet is wet??? jaja…tips???
Answer from martin@great-save.com - To be totally honest the difference between the latex is little to none, I have asked Adidas and i am told the latex is the same on both the fingersave allround and Ultimate so why the £10 difference? – I have no idea the cost price on the Ultimate is £10 more! Feedback has been the white latex is the best though some people do like a black foam, it’s always best to pre damp latex but try not to over damp, maybe the black foam is not taking as much water in.
Question from Mnss Stv (facebook comment) Hi Great Save, what glove would you recommend has the best grip in wet, rainy conditions?
Answer from martin@great-save.com - So many of the major brands now offer latex’s that have been produce to use in wet weather conditions, Adidas’s Extreme Response latex is very good, The fedback we have had on Uhlsport’s Absolutgrip has been really good too.
Question from Joe Douglass - Just like to ask what goalkeeper 3/4 trouser you would recommend that has the most padding as I play on astro turf mainly and im looking for a good 3/4 for some extra protection
Answer from luke@great-save.com - If you play on 3G / Astro or any plastic grass pitches it is really important that you buy a pant that has Kevlar or a hard ground resistant padding added. Many of the standard pants are no good if they are being used on these surfaces as the materials as not designed to be used on these surfaces, the best ones to go for are the Uhlsport 3/4 padded pant protect HG.
