It’s going to be an interesting 2012, both Adidas and Nike have delayed their usual January launches, with it being a championship year both will launch their new glove ranges at the start of Euro 2012. Nike see no new colour updates of the current collection. the white blue that will now run to June which is when the new design will be launched.

I am yet to see the new Adidas gloves for 2012 other than some images in a catalogue, we visit Adidas in the new year and I am excited to see what the gloves will be like. As with most brands the major concern is pricing Adidas’s new gloves have gone up in price the fingersave will retail around £70 and the Respo0nse Negative is now £50. With production prices going though the roof even the major brands are starting to pass this on.

Nike have a really nice new design for 2012,Ii have seen the new VG3 I am yet to know what latex will be used I am guessing it will be the contact foam though there could be an update but I am only guessing. The glove cut’s will all be the same but a new design will be added to the backhand, the wrist strap stays the same buy using the belt lock. The big plus from Nike is that prices will almost stay the same glove wise, boots look to have gone up quite a bit with the new CTR 360 going to retail at around £155 and GK Replica jerseys to be around £67.  There will also be some new additions to the in-line glove range with Nike adding a Roll Finger at £45 and both the VG3 RVS and Tiempo RVS coming to main range which will see the gloves at a cheaper prices.

We are really excited about seeing the new Uhlsport ranges, Paul and his team here in the UK are doing a fine job with the brand, February will see some nice new additions with the update of the Fingerbett – the new Handbett is stunning it will retail at £94.99 but is a super glove.  There are also updates in the Cerberus collection with a brand new Aquasoft Roll which has a newly developed Roll cut, keep an eye out for this. Uhlsport then have a special design that will be used by all their keepers at the Euros. The Ergonomic SS Wir tun was (we take action) is launched in April, the glove has a red Super Soft foam with a wrap over thumb the design has already been leaked on the net!

Reusch have had their new gloves come to market already, there is a really nice glove for the Euros which will again be used by all their keepers at the Euros.

I am excited to see what some of the smaller specialist brands do too, Victor Valdes is now wearing Penalty I wonder what their plans will be, having such a major keeper? Onesport has had a great 2011 I am sure Paul and his team will be looking to progress in 2012, the Pro Evolve Aqua latex went down really well, feedback was very positive  at £34.99 the glove was stunning value for money.

One brand that is really pushing things is Precision GK they seem to have more and more keepers wearing the brand, after the launch of the Kasper Schmeichel collection in March 2011 the brand has progressed very fast, the new range for 2012 is really good too, the new Kasper Schmeichel glove is stunning and a real step forwards and the main range sees some great additions at really key prices, Precision are a brand to watch for during 2012 for sure.

I now have to turn my thoughts to any possible SMU ideas, where do I start??…..
