Given To Stay And Fight

Shay Given has expressed his desire to stay with Manchester City and be ready for the start of next season. He is unsure what will happen over the summer as many clubs are linked with him but has confirmed he wants to stay and fight for his place.
His rival at the club, Joe Hart has had an amazing season and kept his first team place with Given only playing a few games.
Given has no intentions of leaving and hopes to end his playing career at City but at the same time he wants to play regular football.
Given joined in 2009 from Newcastle were he was given the number 1 jersey and was the regular shot stopper at city. Joe Hart become more confident and was improving each week and became a regular for City manager Roberto Mancini and was now the first choice.
Given has said ‘ I don’t know what will happen in the future but I wish to be part of this club and win trophies’. ‘I have been asked on several occasions if I regret coming here and I say no, I am ready at any point to step in and play a part for my club. The main reason I left Newcastle was because I wanted to play a higher standard and win silver wear. I had been there for 12 years and felt it was the right time to move on’.
Manchester City are currently fourth with a game in hand and 4 points ahead. They hope to finish in the top four and get a chance at playing champions league football next season.
