Guzan Thinks About Future
0 Comments
Aston Villa keeper Brad Guzan has admitted he is thinking a lot about his future as his contract is up for renewal at the end of this season.
Since summer signing Shay Given arrived Guzan has been on the bench and hardly had any time to play.
He made a few appearances due to Given’s injury but once he was fit Guzan was again dropped to the bench.
A contract has been sorted and Aston Villa are happy with what has been offered but Guzan is in doubt and is waiting to see if any clubs are interested in his services. Villa boss McLeish has always backed Given and has said “if he is fit he is my number 1 as he has had so much experience and is a top class keeper”
Guzan joined Villa in 2008 from MLS side Chivas for a fee to be around £600,000 ($1.2 million dollars) and made his first appearance against Queens Park Rangers in the league cup.
He impressed in 2009 pre-season playing all but 1 game in the Peace Cup, which Villa went on to win with Guzan saving Alessandro Del Piero’s penalty.
After pre-season Guzan believed to be in with a chance of starting the 2009/10 Premier League but was dropped and replaced by Brad Fridel for the game against Wigan.
The 27 year old has spent nearly 4 years in England and will be out of contract in the summer so will decide in the next few months what to. He has a few options in re-sign, look at another club or maybe return to the USA.
